The Cost of War
So far 4,500 of our troops have been killed in action with another 38,000 wounded, most wounded very severly. 2007 has been the worst year ever for casualties in Afganistan, as well as Iraq, record death tolls in both countries have caused outrage is some, however congress and the Bush regime continue to spend.
One day of the Iraq war cost 720,000,000 dollars. Yes, one day 720 million dollars, with this money we could build 84 new schools, pay 12,478 elementary school teachers, we could feed 1,153,846 school children free lunches, provide 6,482 families with homes, provide healthcare for 423,529 children and 163,525 adults. With this money we could provide 34,904 four year scholarships for university students. These are just a few things we could be doing...P4P |

Ignorance and Apathy, the real enemy.
One of the biggest obstacles we face as Americans is the absolute ignorance of most of our citizens. It is this attitude that allows our leaders to continue profiteering from this war, while Americans are being killed on a daily basis. We can not depend on the media for doing their job properly and giving us the real facts. The onus is on us as the future of this country we have to dig a little harder and use alternative media, but it is worth it, we as young Americans need to let our leaders know we are informed and we do care. Trying to put our arms around the world ....
Instead of putting our Arms around the world, we should be trying to put our arms around the world. In a country that has poverty, natural disasters, and bridges collapsing, in a world where people are being mass murdered in Darfur, and human right violations take place all over the world everyday, Can we not put our resources to use in a better way? Instead of spending billions and billions on a unwinnable war that should have never started, we could be helping Americans in the Gulf coast and building schools instead of jails. The only way is to start with Peace and then take care of the issues at hand. It is time we help those who desperately need it and deserve it...P4P |

A Tribute to all that have served
PaisanosforPeace would like to honor the Americans who have served. Some may say we are sending a mixed message at P4P, it is quite the contrary. We are against war in this day and age, we have the utmost respect for those who have served and anyone who is currently serving. We would never deface any monuments or act out violently, even if provoked, the truth of the matter is we do not believe war is ever the answer and we want all of our brave men and women home safely to be with their families now. If you have someone in your family that is serving tell us about them and we will honor them by putting their picture and bio on this site. Once again we stand behind all the troops and anyone who has fought in any war, and especially those who have made the ultimate sacrifice....P4P |

Thank You For Your Support!
On Saturday, 9/15/07, I was truly humbled. I was in fact overwhelmed by the support, donations, positive comments and kind words I received during the rally and march for peace. In addition to passing out over 60 shirts and 500 business cards we got the word out. Thank you so much to all who made a donation, or even If you gave us a smile, a thumbs up, or even a chuckle when you walked on by, our vision was realized. Not only did we collectively get the word for PEACE out, we sent a message to our leaders. Many of you who proudly supported Paisanos For Peace by wearing your P4P shirt during the march made me so proud and have inspired me to take this fight to a whole new level, with your help and continued support, we can accomplish our goal of peace. To see so many young people, that are actually informed and care, and the not so young people who came out in droves, to send a message to this administration that we have had enough. Enough of the lies, enough of the profiteering, and enough of the senseless deaths. Thank you so much Paisanos! You know who you are, you have inspired me to continue the fight. Unfair Stereo-Typing
It has come to my attention, the word Paisano may be mis-construed by some. Paisano is a word that is simply defined as a friend, nothing more nothing less. The unfortunate thing is that some words like "Paisano" and "Goomba", perhaps give connotations of the so called "mafia" or links to organized crime. This is completely unfair, the vast majority of Italian-Americans are hard working law abiding people. Programs like The Sopranos and classic movies such as The Godfather for example are intended for entertainment purposes, but to some it reinforces ugly negative stereo-types. Every nationality and ethnic group has criminals, we should not automatically accuse every member of an entire race based on the actions of some. Everyone is an individual, and no man should be judged based on race or religion. A man should be judged by his actions...P4P |

No matter what is going on, never give up. We are only on this earth for ninety maybe a hundred years, at the very most. During that period we must try to do something good, something useful with our lives. Be helpful and compassionate, work for peace in your heart and in your mind. 190,000,000,000 Dollars requested to fund Iraq war in 2008
With no end in sight, or a hope of an exit plan, the Bush Cheney regime has vowed to continue to terrorize the world. Most recently the Pentagon has requested 190 BILLION dollars to continue this quagmire in Iraq. As the 2008 budget year begins on October 1, 2007, Defense Secretary Robert Gates went to Capitol Hill to ask for an additional $42 billion, in addition to the $147 billion that the Pentagon has already requested. $190 billion to continue this unjust war in 2008. It makes you wonder about all the good we could be doing with this money. It makes you wonder how long this can go on, and how many more have to die before we get out?....P4P |

Since the start of the Iraq war in 2003 Iraqi Casualties are over 1 million, over 4.6 million Iraqis have been uprooted and displaced, and coalition casualties are at 4,500, most of which are American troops...P4P |

The media fails us yet again

Paisanos for peace was on location on September 15 to speak out against war and this administration. Over 10,000 concerned, informed people rallied peacefully at the south lawn of the White House. People like Ralph Nader and Cindy Sheehan spoke out aginst the war, the anti-war machine was in full effect. The media, who were absent for the most part once again failed us by not reporting on the amount of people who took time out of their lives and some who traveled from far away, instead they reported about the 160 people who were arrested. Ironic how the media does not report on the 10,000 that were on hand to peacefully protest the war, and have their voices heard. The other photos published were of the small amount of brainwashed peolpe who came out to protest the protest. Why the media would focus on the negative is because they are afraid to tell the truth. The world needs to know many of us, most of us are against this war. This administartion needs to know how many of us are against this war. We will not rest until they bring all the boys home, unfortunately right now it appears there is no end in sight...P4P

Suicides at all time high.

A Reuters article stating that the department of defense has confirmed 101 suicides of U.S. soldiers and an alarming 90 more suicide attempts in 2006. This number is up from 87 in 2005, So far in 2007 44 soldiers have committed suicide. The rate of suicides last year hit its highest mark since 1991, the time of the gulf war, 102 soldier suicides were recorded. Coincidence?....P4P

Not one more day, not one more dollar, not one more death

It has been over four years since the invasion of Iraq, 3,700 American troops have been killed in action, 37,000 have been wounded and will never be the same, while others facing second and third deployments are committing suicide. Bush and Cheney continue to profit, while young Americans (mostly minorities and poor white kids so nobody cares) are being placed in harms way, most of congress now believes it is time to start pulling out of Iraq, the sad thing is that we have no exit strategy and the commander in chief, as usual is on vacation...P4P

The March on 9-15-07 is almost here, we are expecting a huge turn out. Americans from all over this country will unite for Peace at the Nation's capitol, We will march in protest to this quagmire, to promote world peace and unity and to get the world's number 1 terrorist and his cronies impeached.
